Step 1
Define duty
Tank diameter, slurry density, underflow solids target, continuous vs paste duty, and whether the unit is bridge- or centre-column mounted.
Step 2
Match torque class
Use continuous operating torque and peak cutoff to shortlist Series A–Eb. Paste thickeners typically need Ea (under 25m) or Eb (over 25m).
Step 3
Confirm retrofit fit
For replacements, share existing drive footprint, output shaft, pinion count, lift arrangement and control interfaces so MTP can check drop-in compatibility.
Step 4
Plan installation
Bridge or pier mounting, hydraulic vs mechanical lift, load-cell verification and commissioning support are agreed before fabrication release.

MTP drive heads of all sizes are available as replacement units, built to the same standards as original equipment. They are suitable for retrofit and aftermarket programmes when footprint, torque class and lift architecture can be matched.

Installation requirements
Final selection is confirmed from process duty and site economics. Mechanical or hydraulic drives are available up to 20m diameter; hydraulic drives are used above 20m. Rake lifting is available on all thickener designs.
